Chae-Lin KIM, PhD

Chae-Lin Kim is a cellist and musicologist. She studied with Michael Sanderling at Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts and holds a diploma in cello performance. After receiving her MA in musicology from Freie Universität Berlin, she recently completed her PhD in musicology at Berlin University of the Arts, where she will be a lecturer during the summer semester of 2023. Her research interests include music in Deaf culture, with a particular focus on signed performances, instrumental pedagogy and K-pop.
Chae-Lin Kim received an AMMR seed money grant from MMRC to develop the research project “Music for the eye? Musical performances in Deaf culture”.
