Mag.art. Marius Burkert

 

Marius Burkert studied conducting at the University of Music and Performing Arts in his hometown Vienna.

After conducting at the Tiroler Landestheater, at the Oper Graz and at Staatsoper Hanover, he conducted at the Vienna Kammeroper, Staatstheater Karlsruhe, Stadttheater Klagenfurt, Vienna Volksoper, Bühne Baden, Teatro Communale Bozen and at the Staatsoper Budapest; as well as with the RSO Vienna, Oradea Philharmonic Orchestra, Latvian National Orchestra Riga, Orchestra Sinfonica Siciliana Palermo, Orchestra of the Teatro Massimo Bellini in Catania and the Tonkünster Niederösterreich.

Marius Burkert is permanent conductor at the Oper Graz and chief conductor of Lehár Festival Bad Ischl.

In both places he conducted more than 40 premieres and countless repertoire performances: Le nozze di Figaro, Don Giovanni, La Bohème, Die verkaufte Braut, Die Fledermaus, Die lustige Witwe, Die Csárdásfürstin, Der Vogelhändler, Madame Butterfly, Lucia di Lammermoor, Fidelio, Der Freischütz, Die Liebe zu den drei Orangen, West Side Story, Rusalka, Faust, Hänsel und Gretel, Carmen, Roméo et Juliette, Manon, Ariane et Barbe-Bleue, La Rondine, Schwanda der Dudelsackpfeifer, Erwartung, Herzog Blaubarts Burg, Der ferne Klang, Martha, Cavalleria rusticana – Pagliacci, Tosca, Turandot, Lohengrin, Salome, …

Some operetta rarities have been released by cpo as premiere recordings: Gasparone, Wo die Lerche singt, Die Kaiserin, Die ungarische Hochzeit, Der Opernball, Die Juxheirat, Kaiserin Josephine, Wiener Frauen, Clo Clo, Clivia and Eine Nacht in Venedig.
