Cordelia Vana, BA BA

 

Cordelia Vana (form. Karner) was born in 1993 into a rather musical family and has been singing in choirs since childhood. At the age of 16, after her year abroad in Tennessee, USA, she took on the direction of the school band of the Don Bosco Gymnasium Unterwaltersdorf, being responsible for both the organizational as well as artistic management.

What followed were two Bachelor's degrees in the studies Musicology (University of Vienna) and European Economy and Business Management (UAS BFI Vienna), as well as an acting course diploma from the Medienschule Wien, before starting her musical education studies at mdw Vienna in 2015, majoring in choral conducting and voice. In 2017 she took over the musical direction of the EnChoir Vienna, the choir of the Anglistics department of the University of Vienna. Under her leadership, the choir successfully took part in the Cup der Chöre 2020, making it into the final round.

Cordelia Vana sings in various choirs on a regular basis, including Momentum Vocal Music, Chorus Alea, und the mdw's Webern Chamber Choir.

Since March 2020, she is head of the artistic management office at the Department of Conducting.
