  • Creative Computing: Software development for audio and music production.

 

  • Generative Audio and Music Algorithms. Design and implementation of computational models for real-time and computer-aided composition and algorithmic music generation.

 

  • Music Information Retrieval (MIR). Research in audio feature extraction, machine learning for music analysis, and computational approaches to understanding musical structure.

 

  • Rhythm Perception and Cognition. Investigating the cognitive and computational modelling of rhythm, including beat perception, polyrhythms, groove and rhythmic similarity in music.

 

  • Digital Music Technology. Exploring emerging technologies in digital audio, music production and sound synthesis, with a focus on user experience, interactivity and real-time performance applications.

 

  • AI and Music Creativity. Exploring the role of artificial intelligence in music composition, improvisation and production.

 

  • Ethical and societal considerations of music technology. Investigating the ethical implications of the wider societal impacts of music technology, including biases in music production and distribution systems.
