Doctoral session (DissKolleg)
The DissKolleg serves the scientific discourse within the circle of doctoral candidates. The DissKollegs take place in the form of a joint public conference (face-to-face or online). The participants of DissKolleg 01 have the opportunity to gain experience in moderation and discussion, and DissKolleg 02 offers doctoral candidates the possibility to present the state of their dissertation in the form of a short presentation and to discuss it with colleagues. The participants of DissKolleg 01 will moderate and give the first contributions to the discussion of the dissertation projects, which will be presented by the students of the research phase in DissKolleg 02. Afterwards, the discussion will be opened to all interested parties.
The DissKolleg is usually offered every semester, but it may happen that the Disskolleg takes place only ONCE per academic year!
Doctoral session 01
The registration for the DissKolleg 01 is to be completed via mdwOnline. For detailed planning, please also contact the Dean of Studies at stdw@mdw.ac.at..
In order to register, you need to be currently admitted to the PhD programme and enrolled for the semester in question. To conclude this session, you need to have had sufficient attendance, participated in facilitation and discussions, and prepared a brief written reflection relating the presentations and discussions to your own dissertation project. This reflection should address the question of what was learned from the presentation and discussion in relation to your own work (length 3-5 pages). This additional work, which is obligatory for the issue of a certificate, is to be sent to stdw@mdw.ac.at within one week after the DissKolleg.
Successful participation in Disskolleg 01 is a prerequisite for admission to the subject examination.

Certificate requirements for the participants of the DissKolleg 02 are the submission of a video presentation about the current status of their own dissertation, the submission of an extended abstract (max. 3 pages) on Moodle, as well as participation in the discussions via Zoom.
