Postdoc-Phase

After the successful completion of doctoral studies, the postdoc phase begins, a period of further qualification. In this phase, the independent academic profile is to be strengthened and career paths within or outside academia are to be explored and prepared. This is often accompanied by the acquisition of third-party funding projects, teaching activities and publications as well as further training. In addition to acquiring third-party funding, qualifications can also be in the areas of staff leadership, project management, communication skills and building a network.

Since 2021, the mdw has been offering a career development programme for academics (Prae and Post Doc) with the aim of supporting women, inter* and non-binary persons in the strategic planning of their academic careers. At the mdw, workshops and events on topics that can be helpful to post-docs are offered by various bodies. The Graduate Centre bundles and updates this information on the Workshops and Events page and in the newsletter.
