On May 6, 2024, for the eighth time, our Spring Concert, hosted by the KIWANIS Club Vienna-Europe 1, took place. Under the motto “Traveling with Music,” young musicians from the mdw talent lab and the Johann Sebastian Bach Music School presented an evening full of musical discoveries to the audience. The concert was not only a cultural event but also an important contribution to the promotion of young musical talents. The entire proceeds of the concert this year also supported young musicians in their musical education.

The music took the audience on a journey that started at the court of Prince Esterházy in Hungary with Haydn, continued through Berlin with Bach, then on to Salzburg with Mozart, and Vienna with Hellmesberger, before finally ending in sunny Spain with Rodrigo.

Performing were the Neustift Trio with Felix Aigner, Marlene Fasching, and Julius Schantl on horn, the Young Bone Masters Quartet with Bruno Bojti, Jakob Fellner, and Tobias Frohner on trombone, and Raphael Kohlbauer on bass trombone, as well as the Young Masters Ensemble. The musicians alternated between solo performances and concertmaster and section leader positions. Some talents even switched instruments, like Amelie Knapp, who shone on the harp and recorder, or the violin virtuoso Finia Bogner, who could suddenly be seen playing the drums – right next to Emanuel Deutinger, who provided an exhilarating encore with “Memories of Circus Renz” on his vibraphone.

Flutist Kathrin Ellinger also impressed the audience with her interpretation of C.P.E. Bach, as did the solo quartet of Hellmesberger together with violinists Finia Bogner, Alexandra Auer, Lauren Dunbar, and Felix Aigner, who stepped in at short notice for an ailing colleague.

As an additional highlight, Anna Shyrokova on violin and Robert Galeev on viola performed on instruments generously sponsored by the KIWANIS Club and Dr. Reinhard Draschtak, specifically built by Mr. Ott, Studio Mizzotti, to support young musicians.

The journey through various cultures and epochs filled the audience with wonder and enthusiasm. We look forward to the next musical adventures of these talented ensembles!
