WZMF – Music Therapy Research Centre Vienna (Wiener Zentrum für Musiktherapie-Forschung) was initiated as a collaborative project in 2017 between mdw – University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna and the Medical University of Vienna (MedUni Wien) and was funded by the Austrian Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Research until the end of 2021. In May 2019, WZMF was established as a separate organisational unit of the Department for Music Therapy at the mdw – University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna.
The basic idea of WZMF is founded on the triad of teaching, research and music therapy practice.
