  • combining interdisciplinary perspectives with music therapy topics – especially linking music therapy and cognitive science
  • effects of music therapy
  • music and medicine as well as music-based interventions
     

Irene Stepniczka studied musicology and cognitive science (focuses: Psychology, Neuroscience, Artificial Intelligence) at the University of Vienna and completed both studies with distinction. After carrying out research in the field of aviation with the German Aerospace Center, Boeing and Airbus, she now applies her experience in interdisciplinary and mixed-methods research to music therapy topics. Since 2018, she has worked in various projects at WZMF – Music Therapy Research Centre Vienna at the mdw – University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, where she is a research associate.
