HRS4R – Human Resources Strategy for Researchers
A project by Human Resources Management and Research Support Office in collaboration with the Organisational Development of the mdw
The mdw - University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna is committed to providing an attractive working environment and favourable career opportunities for its staff in science and research and in the advancement and appreciation of the arts. To sustain its leading position at national and international levels, the mdw strives to recruit staff with the best qualifications.
Since 2020, the university has been engaged in the European Commission’s "Human Resources Strategy for Researchers" (HRS4R) audit, which aims to establish recognized standards in human resources management and recruitment. The mdw received the "HR Excellence in Research" award in January 2023.
In implementing the strategy, the mdw prepared an "Open, Transparent and Merit-Based Recruitment Policy" (OTM-R Policy). This Policy establishes binding recruitment standards and workflows and provides guidance for personnel selection procedures at the mdw.
The recently developed Revised Action Plan of the mdw aims to implement the criteria set out in the "European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers" as part of a multi-stage process focusing on the following key issues:
- Selection procedures and recruiting;
- Support for early-career researchers and artists & career development support;
- Leadership development;
- Internationalisation;
- General working conditions, infrastructure and dissemination of results;
- Equality and anti-discrimination.
