La fiera di Venezia (Mus.Hs.17838)

ComposerSalieri, Antonio
Date of performance1772-01-29 Premiere
Dating of manuscript1772/1785
NotesSome pages of this score were inserted later, most likely due to adaptions in connection with the Viennese revival of the opera in 1785. Three copyists and two papers have been identified as belonging to this later time period: The copyists WK72L, WK72Q and WK72G as well as the papers P17 and P27. They all appear only in one further score examined in the P&C project: another manuscript of Salieri’s “La fiera di Venezia” (KT 157), which can be attributed as a whole to the revival of the opera in the mid-1780ies. Further evidence for a later origin of the papers P17 and P27 can be found in their watermarks. They both show the letters REAL, a way of indicating the size and weight of the paper which was used starting from 1774.
