Roozbeh Nafisi

Jutta Fischel

Roozbeh Nafisi is a composer, santur player, acoustician, and teacher. He studied at the Department of Composition, Electroacoustics, and Tonmeister Education (electroacoustic composition) and taught at the Department of Folk Music Research and Ethnomusicology. He is presently a doctoral student at the mdw and previously studied in the US, Japan, and Germany.

Immersion in Estonian Culture

Roozbeh Nafisi is a PhD student in musicology at the mdw. In April 2022, his PhD short-term mobility took him to the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre in Tallinn. Roozbeh chose Tallinn in order to conduct research into the kannel, a traditional Estonian instrument.
