The history of the mdw actually embodies two centuries of Austrian cultural history, all of whom have one thing in common: their ascent to the world stage.

Since October 2016, the full professor of piano chamber music has been leading the piano class at the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel in Belgium together with the French-Canadian pianist Louis Lortie.

The young violinist Anna Rendl dared to embark on an adventure: she went freelance with her own concert agency, Artphonia.

From 1945 to his death in 1973, music theorist Erwin Ratz taught theory of form at today’s mdw. He was appointed professor in 1957.
