5 Saxophones and drums – these are “Die Ranzler”. If you’re asking yourself, “what exactly is a Ranzler?!”, the answer is: one can only guess.  One way or another, they are reinterpreting famous Jazz and Popsongs, putting a new spin on Austrian folk music and delve into the depths of different cultures. The six young musicians are on a highly successful course in both classical and popular music. Markus Adam, David Gruber, Paul Gritsch, Anton Prettler and Johannes Weichinger (Reeds) are impressively pushing their instruments to their limit and beyond – Andreas Salvatore Böcklinger’s Grooves provide the necessary cohesion. “Die Ranzler” promise an exciting mdw welcome party!

Manteka – Women power meets Salsa

Fans of demanding salsa music are sure to be impressed by Mantekas high-toned grooves. The ensemble successfully combines intensive salsa with surprising arrangements and is a true exception in the male dominated scene, as more than half of its members are women. This new generation of salsa boldly puts forward different artistic styles and directions. The Vienna based musicians do justice to their name virtuously handling their instruments, cutting like knives through butter = Mante(c)a. Influences from New York to Puerto Rico, from Cuba to Europe are fused together sublimely and manage to blow the minds of even the wildest dancers and the most sophisticated music lovers.
