Sobin Jo, born in South Korea, moved to Vienna at the age of 12 to study piano as part of the preparatory course at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna. In 2014, she completed her bachelor’s degree in instrumental and vocal pedagogy (piano) at the same university and then began a bachelor’s degree in harpsichord performance with Prof. Wolfgang Glüxam, which she completed in 2019. She completed her master’s degree in harpsichord basso continuo with Augusta van Lookeren Campagne in 2021.
Sobin Jo performs both as a soloist and in chamber music ensembles in the field of early music.
With her ensemble freymut and soprano Johanna Falkinger, the harpsichordist won the WDR Prize at the International H.I.F. Biber Competition in Sankt Florian. Concert engagements have taken the young musician to Germany, Italy and South Korea, to the Vienna Konzerthaus and the Musikverein.
