Proceedings of the symposium | Partimento — Realizing its Potential

The symposium brought together scholars, musicians, and educators to explore the rich tradition of partimento—a cornerstone of 18th-century music education, particularly in Naples. This practice encompassed a wide range of skills, including vocal and instrumental performance, basso continuo, improvisation, and composition. The event highlighted the continued relevance of partimento in contemporary pedagogical and artistic contexts. It took place in Vienna at the mdw – University of Music and Performing Arts from November 12 to 15.
