Organo di Legno

The Quentin Blumenroeder workshop in Hagenau (France) has crafted a beautiful instrument in the style of an Italian organo di legno for the Institute of Early Music at the mdw. In keeping with the tradition of historical Italian instruments, cypress wood was used for the pipes of the 8’ and 4’register. The organ can be powered either electrically or by means of a wedge bellows.A four-way transposition mechanism was chosen so that the instrument could be used at tuning frequencies of 392 Hz, 415 Hz, 440 Hz and 466 Hz.
