Lorina Vallaster is an Austrian recorder player, based in Vienna. She was born 1994 in Austria and began playing recorder, piano, cello and viola da gamba early on in her life. Since 2010 she has studied recorder with Thomas List at the Musik und Kunst Privatuniversität der Stadt Wien. Currently she is in the class of Carsten Eckert at Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien. Lorina attended masterclasses with Michael Schneider, Dan Laurin, Maurice Steger and Dorothee Oberlinger. From 2010 – 2015 she also studied oboe with Thomas Höniger at Musik und Kunst Privatuniversität der Stadt Wien. With her Ensemble Bonporte she won a first prize at the Prima la musica competition, and they were invited to play at the winner’s concert at Konzerthaus Wien. Her piece Kokolores for vocal ensemble won the only first prize at the youth composition competition Jugend komponiert in 2013 and was premiered at Mozarteum Salzburg. Since 2014 she is awardee of the Yehudi Menuhin – Live Music Now Program Vienna together with Sferraina. In April 2015 she had her solo debut as a recorder player at Konzerthaus Wien in the concert series Musica Juventutis.The same year she also worked as a substitute (oboe) with the orchestra Tonkünstlerorchester Niederösterreich at concerts in Austria and Czech republic and at the music-theatre production Robinson at the Contemporary Music Festival Wien Modern. Lorina is a three time award winner of the Fidelio – Competition Vienna in the category Creation (2015,2016,2017). Her Ensemble VIVID Consort was chosen for the Austrian Support program NASOM New Austrian Sound of Music. VIVID Consort also performed at concert series Musica Juventutis at Konzerthaus Wien and is featured at the compilation Fraufeld Vol.1. In 2018 they presented their debut cd Bitter fruit.
