Business small talk and networking for artists

In addition to artistic quality and personal zeal, it is often or almost always up to the communicative skills of artists to build career-enhancing networks. It is the connections with as many annual rings as possible that open the doors to great opportunities. The art of conducting conversations or building connections is therefore considered a valuable competence that students and graduates can acquire and professionalise step by step.
Goals:
- Define a map of valuable contacts, institutions and personalities
- Designing professional conversation starters
- Using self-marketing
- Recognising signals for breaking off a conversation
- Mastering the establishment of contact after the first contact
- Apply social rules of proximity and distance
- Managing business talk in small talk with confidence
- Communicating wishes/ideas/requests in the appropriate places

Location: Senatssitzungssaal L0123, mdw-Campus, Anton-von-Webern-Platz 1, 1030 Wien
Target Audience:
Students about to graduate or alumni at the beginning of their careers, namely musicians, composers, conductors, etc.

ECTS: The workshop counts as 10 hrs. à 60 min. incl. preparation and postprocessing for the Career Center elective course.
