Tabea Debus devotes herself with great enthusiasm and intensity to both the performance of early music and the works of contemporary composers. She is a regular guest at festivals and concert series throughout Europe, Asia, and North and South America.

Her ongoing collaborations with contemporary composers have already resulted in many new solo and ensemble works for recorder, which Tabea Debus has premiered at events such as the LSO Soundhub, Barbican Sound Unbound, and the Baroque at the Edge Festival. In addition, she has performed as a soloist in contemporary works with the WDR Radio Choir at the Funkhaus in Cologne and the English Chamber Orchestra at Cadogan Hall in London, among others.

Her busy concert schedule takes Tabea Debus to international festivals such as summerwinds Münsterland, the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Festival, the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival, the Edinburgh International Festival, Musica Antiqua Bolzano, and early music festivals in London and York, among others. As a soloist and with Baroque ensembles such as La Serenissima and The English Concert, she performs in renowned concert halls including London’s Wigmore Hall, Carnegie Hall in New York, and the Cologne Funkhaus. She has been a frequent guest on WDR 3’s program Tonart and on BBC Radio 3’s programs In Tune and Early Music Show. Her critically acclaimed CD recordings showcase her artistry; her most recent release is Ohrwurm (Delphian Records, 2020).

In 2020, Tabea Debus was honored with the CAG/Richard S. Weinert Award for Innovation in Classical Music. She is also a soloist prize winner at the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Festival and a first-prize winner at the Society of Recorder Players/Moeck International Solo Recorder Competition in London (2019), as well as at the Johann Heinrich Schmelzer International Competition (2014) and the hülsta woodwinds International Competition (2011). She has received scholarships from the Deutsche Stiftung Musikleben, the DAAD, and the Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes, as well as support as a St John’s Smith Square Young Artist (2015–16), Handel House Talent (2016–17), and City Music Foundation Artist (2016–18). She is currently represented by both the Young Classical Artists Trust (YCAT, London) and the Concert Artists Guild (CAG, New York).

Tabea Debus teaches recorder at Wells Cathedral School and has led seminars and workshops at the Royal Academy of Music and Cambridge University. She regularly collaborates with organizations such as Music Masters and the Jackdaws Music Education Trust to provide children with creative musical experiences. In collaboration with colleagues from the independent music, art, and theater scenes, she develops new projects, such as the recent music-art video game “soundshapes”, the “Continuo Lines” play-along library, and the “Regenwurm Endo” video series. Tabea Debus has served as a judge for the British Composer Awards (BASCA) and for “Jugend musiziert.”
