Musicians and musicologists are frequently confronted with historical sources written in German cursive script. This workshop helps participants understand the basics of this style of writing and, using numerous examples (including those you bring yourself!), teaches how to read, understand, and transcribe such texts. All interested students (as well as faculty members) at the mdw are cordially invited to participate.

Musician, instrument restorer, community chronicler—and a specialist in all variants of cursive script. He can decipher everything from the most illegible scribbles in a baptismal register to the minuscule lyrics of a Baroque cantata.
