Lorenzo Cavasanti was born in Genoa and is considered one of the finest recorder players of our time.

He studied recorder and early music with Frans Brüggen, Kees Boeke, and Walter van Hauwe, and earned his degree in recorder and transverse flute in Milan under Pedro Memelsdorf and Ezequiel M. Recondo. As a soloist, he has performed at renowned music festivals such as the “BBC Proms” in London, the Mozart Week in Salzburg, the “Cité de la Musique” in Paris, the “Festival Internazionale di Musica Antica” in Urbino, and the “Barockfest” in Münster. He has also made guest appearances at some of the most prestigious concert halls, including the Musikverein in Vienna, the Royal Albert Hall in London, the Teatro alla Scala in Milan, the Tonhalle in Zurich, and the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona.

Since 1991, he has recorded numerous albums that have been honored with many awards by international critics; for example, the Cini Foundation in Venice awarded prizes for his recordings of Mancini’s sonatas, while his recordings dedicated to Telemann with Tripla Concordia have received prizes and awards from around the world.

He currently teaches recorder, transverse flute, and Baroque chamber music at the Music Conservatory in Bolzano and holds master classes at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg, ESMUC in Barcelona, the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna, the Royal College of Music in London, and in Stockholm.
