My Rights as a Music Creator
Copyright and Collecting Societies
You compose, arrange, improvise, or perform music – but do you also know what rights you are entitled to and how you are compensated for them?
In this workshop, you will receive a practical overview of Austrian copyright law and the most important collecting societies, such as AKM and LSG. You will learn what rights composers, performers, and arrangers have, when royalties arise, and how to ensure that your works and performances are correctly registered and accounted for.
Using concrete examples from everyday professional life, we will take a closer look at topics such as performances, sound recordings, streaming, broadcasting, arrangements, and international exploitation. There will also be room for individual questions and typical case scenarios from artistic practice.
