Fees and taxes
with project-related examples

Apart from creative work, taxes, social security and labour law know-how are also part of everyday artistic life for musicians. But at what income level do income tax and insurance contributions have to be paid and what percentage do they account for? When does additional insurance make sense and are there ways for freelancers to protect themselves against loss of work? What interest groups are there for musicians in Austria? How many performances at what fee do I need to cover my living costs and provide for my future? How do I calculate the amount of fees for commissioned work? Are there fee standards? Which funding organisations can I apply to for my musical project?

Objectives

  • To provide an overview of the professional field of music professionals
  • Understanding the topics of tax returns, social security, employment contracts, fees, funding opportunities
  • Solving your own problems in these areas
